Yuna receives the globe thanks to Rikku’s efforts.
In the meantime, Yuna’s cousin Rikku stumbles into a particular sphere that, for some unexplained reason, displays an image of Yuna’s only love, Tidus. These factions are the Youth League, led by Mevyn Nooj, and the New Yevon Party, which Praetor Baralai leads. The Yevon religion has almost entirely vanished, and two political groups have begun to vie with one another for power.
The events of this game take place two years after the conclusion of Final Fantasy X, in which Yuna and her guardians destroy Sin and bring peace back to Spira. The history of the Final Fantasy series begins with Final Fantasy X-2, the first installment of a straight sequel.
